The FWIC is a registered not-for-profit community based organisation with representatives from across Canada. The FWIC provides a united voice for all Women’s Institute Branches across Canada and was established in 1919.
The Women’s Institutes is an organisation founded in 1897 by co-founder Adelaide Hunter Hoodless and Erland and Janet Lee and with the goal to create a women’s group to advocate and share knowledge about domestic education for rural women. As of today; the Women’s Institutes advocate for national directives in health, poverty, food safety, environmental preservation, and community support.
