The Adelaide Hoodless Homestead has been owned and operated by the Federated Women’s Institute of Canada (FWIC) since 1959.

Our Mission

The mission of the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead is to inspire positive social change and deeper awareness of Canadian women’s history by sharing the life and legacy of Adelaide Hoodless, highlighting her remarkable drive and dedication to making the world a better place for women and families.

Our Mandate

Our mandate is to preserve, protect and interpret the story of Adelaide, the Hunter family and the rural domestic experience of the 19th century. To provide access to and encourage participation in both cultural and educational resources to enrich the lives of those within and outside of our local community.
